What I'm Reading - The Pomodoro Technique

What happened to this week?

Last week I was about halfway through Gary Vaynerchuk's new book Jab, Jab, Jab, Jab Right Hook. Today, 7 days later I don't know that I'm any further.

It is so easy to run out of time in a day when it's not scheduled in. And I've been very bad about scheduling in time to read.

Last week I was often writing a blog post in the evening, and then retiring to the couch to read a bit before heading to bed.

I'm not sure where that system went wrong... I had a few late night over this week, and a couple of very early mornings and a couple of days over scheduled with meetings.

Scheduling and time management is something I've been trying to work out since I switched from working in the retail sector to the freelance sector.

One of the time management systems I tried was the Pomodoro Technique. I practised it for about 3 weeks and found it quite interesting. At the time I found I was still in the discovery period of my time management. I needed to know how much time certain tasks take me to do and how much of it I can do at a time before losing focus and productivity.

It might be time to re-visit the Pomodoro Technique, spending 25 minutes on one task only and then taking a 5 minute break before spending another 25 minutes on one task only.

I've taken on two new projects that need some solid time devoted to them daily. Starting Monday I will put a few Pomodoros in every day on both projects.

Except I'm going to rename them to Pollos :-D
