Movie Review: Best of 2018

It’s the last episode of the year on End Credits, and you know what that means! Well, you should. Like all those professional critics, we too like to take stock at the end of the year, and look back fondly at all the great movies we saw. Submitted for your approval, each of us will give our Top 5 list of 2018.

Movie Review: The Christmas Chronicles

This edition of End Credits will be filled with the spirit of Christmas. We’re reviewing what might be the new holiday classic, Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles, but in the news, it’s the slings and arrows of awards season that has us concerned. We’ll talk about the Golden Globe nominations, and the quick tenure of a new Oscar host. We’ll also mark a notable anniversary, and why remakes are not necessarily Child’s Play.

Movie Review: Ralph Breaks the Internet

This week on End Credits, it’s all about the sequels! Yes, we review the Wreck-It-Ralph follow-up Ralph Breaks the Internet, but there’s a lot of sequel talk in terms of what next chapters that people are eager to see, what sequels we’re definitely going to see next, and what sequels failed to materialize. Also, we talk about a little foot-in-mouth concerning the recent passing of a legend.

Movie Review: Halloween 2018

This week on End Credits, we actually celebrate Halloween by reviewing Halloween. In fact, it will be kind of a whole Halloween theme this week because we’re talking about some issues regarding the production company, the potential return of another John Carpenter franchise, and the long awaited list from our most horror friendly panelist.

Movie Review: The Blackcoat's Daughter

This week on End Credits, we’re back to school! Well, actually we never left because we record at CFRU on the University of Guelph campus. It should be more precise to say that school is back with us, and that means it’s fall, and that means it’s time for a different kind of movie slate. We’ll talk about those, and we’ll also dig into the streaming world for this week’s review, a delightful, so to speak, Canadian horror movie.

Movie Review: The Spy Who Dumped Me

We follow up last week’s episode of End Credits, which was about a high-stakes spy movie, with a review this week about a low-stakes spy movie. Yes, girls just want to have fun and save the world with The Spy Who Dumped Me. Speaking of dumped, we check in with a well-known firing from the House of Mouse, and in more Disney drama we look to China. Also, we talk about the man known as SBC, and that festival with the initials T.I.F.F.

Movie Review: Skyscraper

This week on End Credits, we’re going to get high. No, we know that kind of high is still a few months away! Our definition of “high” here is the literal. We’re going up 200 storeys with The Rock for a rollicking adventure where he has to fight fire and bad guys. We’ll also talk about that other action movie in an office building, that movie about a cyborg cop, those TV awards, and more trouble from our friend Scarlett.

The Annual MMPR Podcast Recording!

It's that time of the year again - the time of the year I get shamed into recording an episode, live in front of an audience.

If you don't follow me on social media - you get no update on what I've been up to for the last year or so. Just figure it out - @cinn48

I do, however, gush about some of my newest podcast obsessions. Tune in and follow them yourself:
Faculty of Horror
Cocaine and Rhinestones
Your Favorite Band Sucks
Hit Parade
Shockwaves

Outro music - my new favourite music obsession The Suffrajettes covering Britney Spears Toxic. Spend a couple bucks and buy a copy here.

And that's 2018! Maybe I'll record again at MMPR 2019.

Movie Review: The Incredibles 2

Things are going to be incredible on this week’s edition of End Credits. As you can probably infer from that set up, we’re going to be reviewing a certain record-breaking animated movie sequel this week, while dealing with news topics both serious and whimsical. We’ll have some new #MeToo allegations, new trailers to discuss, some business news, and we’ll talk briefly about the expansive work of a very experienced actor.

Movie Review: Infinity War

This week on End Credits, it’s time for war! And in these uncertain times, what’s more appropriate then an Infinity War? We’ll talk about the new movie featuring the biggest superhero team yet assembled, which may be cause for celebration, but first we must get to a week of disappointing news. We’ve got famous actors and dangerous cults, #MeToo perpetrators and new gigs, and not just one, and continued uncertainty about the next trek into the final frontier.

Movie Review: A Quiet Place

We’re going to keep things very, very quiet this week on End Credits. We’re going to review the smash hit new horror film A Quiet Place, which even has audiences holding their breath, but before that, we’re going to talk about some important news items. We’ll talk about that Rob Ford movie that’s not a Rob Ford movie, the spoiler stunt for everyone’s favourite TV western, and the problem with Apu. Yes, that Apu.

Movie Review: Ready Player One & Top 5 Spielberg

This week on End Credits it’s all Spielberg, all the time! At least for the one hour our show’s on the air. We’re reviewing the latest film from Steven Spielberg, Ready Player One, which exists in no small part because of the work of one, Steven Spielberg. So to cue up this week’s review, we will look at the very lengthy, and very accomplished filmography of Spielberg, and try and find not just the big gold nuggets, but some smaller gold nuggets that are just as good.

Movie Review: A Wrinkle In Time

It’s back to what’s new this week with End Credits! Well, halfway new. While we were off last week, we let a *big* anniversary sail by, and we make up for that this week by going back to 1998 for a story of sex, adventure, and bowling. For the second half, we bring things back to wholesome with the newest Disney movie with a distinctly different flavour.

Movie Review: Black Panther

This week, End Credits gets back into superhero mode! After a long three month drought without any capes and powers, we get back into the swing of things with a movie that’s definitely gong to break a few barriers, Black Panther. In the news, we’ll talk about a superhero director that’s not having such a good time, a legendary director that’s got cashflow issues, and a documentary director that’s having politics interfere with his potential awards glory.

Movie Review: Call Me By Your Name

This week on End Credits, we want to know what love is, but we have to deal with a lot of politics in order to get there. First, there’s the changing model of the movie theatre business, then there’s the apparent disinterest in protecting copyrights, and we wrap up with the mother of all political stories, the present White House and the reality TV star that runs it. Your treat at the end though it a review of a beautiful new movie that makes you believe that romance and love are still real things.

Movie Review: Worst of 2017, Most Anticipated of 2018

This first episode of End Credits for 2018 is going to look back at 2017. While it’s true we’ve already awarded the Top 5 of 2017, there are some other accolades we’d like to consider for before moving on to the new year and new movies. Yes, it’s time for the first annual End Credits Awards, which will feature winners in a quartet of unconventional categories.
