Commitment

I started the year off in January with a 30 day blog challenge. I'm still proud to say that I did not miss a single day! However, the second the clock struck midnight on January 30th, thus ended my blogging. In fact, I'm pretty sure without actually checking, that I wrote no more than 2 or 3 posts throughout the rest of the year.

How atrocious!

I'm not sure what it is about me, but I find I do challenges better than maintenance. So, I've decided it's time to set myself a challenge again and finish the 2014 year strong! Here we go, 30 days, or more, of blogging.

This is me, re-committing
This year has been a struggle. I'm not sure I achieved as much as I wanted to. At the beginning of the year I set my three words as Create, Read, and Home. Those are still very much on my mind. I'm glad to be looking back with still a month in the year to go. I can re-focus and re-commit myself to words.

Read - I set a reading challenge for myself of  30 books for the year. I set my goal in 2013 at 25 books and just scraped in under the deadline with all 25 read. Well, I'm not so far off at this point, I've read 24 of the 30 I set. I've still got time. I'm committing myself to finishing 6 books in the next 30 days. (not as tough as it sounds since I've got 4 on the go at the same time right now)

Create - I started strong by blogging every day for a month. But I definitely faltered throughout the rest of the year. I co-host a podcast, which is entertainment related, which ended up taking a hiatus throughout most of the summer and fall. My big job of creation was on my business website. I'll follow up on that later this week. Another place I need to re-commit.

Home - Growing up it's easy to hold on to items, and it's easy to rely on family to store them for you. Well, things change and family moves and eventually you find yourself in your 30s with years of stuff you've got to store, or sort. My home has been littered with that stuff for about a year now. It's clutter and it totally clogs the brain and creativity. I'd love to be a minimalist, but I've got to be true to myself, that's never going to happen. But I'm starting to take a minimalist attitude to these old books, toys and nick nacks. Yup, this one needs re-committing too.

I really enjoyed the 30 day blogging challenge in January, and I look forward to it this month.
